Emergency Mission: Saving Endangered Sea Turtles!
On December 4th, we joined forces with NOAA Fisheries Service to carry out a critical rescue mission for 33 endangered sea turtles, including Kemp’s Ridley turtles, the most endangered sea turtle species in the world. These turtles, suffering from cold-stunning — a hypothermic reaction to frigid ocean temperatures — were rescued from the waters off Massachusetts.
Our incredible volunteer pilot, Paul Mamataug, flew these turtles from Massachusetts to warmer climates and specialized rehabilitation facilities to give them a second chance at life.
Cold-stunned sea turtles are in desperate need of care to survive, and missions like this are only possible thanks to YOU.
Together, we’re making waves for wildlife! Thank you to our partners coming together, the New England Aquarium, the National Marine Life Center, the NY Marine Rescue Center and everyone who made this mission possible.
